Valerie DeWulf
Hi All!
It seems that fate conspires against my ever attending an LAHS reunion! In 1998 I was in the middle of a PhD program and unable to get away from my thesis research. This time around I have to hold down the fort while my husband goes to Europe to perform. I hope that you are all well and that you enjoy the reunion.
For anyone who is interested, here is what has happened to me…in a nut shell. I spent half of my senior year in Seattle to establish residency in Washington state (hence the absence of any senior picture in the 1988 year book). After finishing spring semester, graduating and leaving LAHS I attended the University of Washington where I got my B.S. in Zoology. From there I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my PhD in Neuroscience at USC. While in school I met my husband John, He was finishing his Masters in jazz guitar. After school we lived and worked in LA for a couple of years until we both landed faculty appointments at Merced College in Merced California (“Gateway to Yosemite”). John teaches Jazz studies and guitar and has just finished his second CD (I am so proud of him!). I teach Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, and Genetics and do a little bit of research on the side at the new UC Merced. In March of 2004 we had our little boy, Alexander and we added little Natalie in 2006. At this point our lives are quite busy but we have a great time camping, playing, listening to music and visiting the coast as often as possible.
It has been fun to read up on your lives. Please shoot me an e-mail, dewulf.v@mccd.edu if you ever find yourself driving to Yosemite. I always have the coffee pot on!
Cheers!
